Orawan Arunrak / Installation views / Letter

Orawan Arunrak’s exhibition opened on Thursday 21 March 2019.
Everybody was invited to Arunrak’s opening from 18:30 to 22:00.
The opening took place at the art space Bureaucracy Studies.

This was Orawan Arunrak’s first exhibition in Switzerland.
She lives and works in Bangkok and Berlin.
The title of Arunrak’s new art work for Bureaucracy Studies is:
“Landscape from 1st Infantry Battalion 2nd Infantry Regiment King’s Guard, Prachinburi Province
to Bureau of Royal Household, Sanarmsuepa, Bangkok, Thailand”.
The title describes a journey from one place in Thailand to another.

For visiting the exhibition from 22 March to 28 April 2019,
you had to make an appointment with Matthias Sohr.

7 am. The gate of my house will be opened by him every day at the same time.
6 pm. The gate of my house will be locked by him every day at the same time.
9 pm. He wanted us to wait for the TAPS song that is performed far away by the trumpet of the Thai army.

I was 14 years old that morning. I was wearing my shoes, preparing to go to school.
I saw him drinking his coffee, but the cup felt down to the floor then his knees were down to the ground.

The only sound came from his mouth, no reaction of the left side of his body anymore, his right hand always ready to Salute.
